Applying IFS with Autistic and ADHD Adults through Neurodiversity Affirming Lens
This two day workshop is offered online in real time.
Dates/Times: May 30-31, 2025, 9 am - 4 pm ET
THE SEMINAR PROGRAM will contain a lot of important theoretical and practical information on the topic.
Theoretical portion will cover:
*What is neurodiversity and neurodivergence?
*Why neurodivergence can be unnoticeable and how unrecognized neurodivergence can impact a person's life and lead to secondary symptoms and diagnoses (e.g. anxiety disorders, depression, distracted attention, difficulties in social interaction, etc.)?
*Sensory systems of autistic and ADHD adults and their connection to psychological struggles
*What role ableist culture plays in psychological challenges of neurodivergent folks?
*How can we understand autistic and ADHD clients from the IFS lens?
*Are there ADHD and autistic parts?
*How to work with autistic and ADHD clients in IFS therapy. Classic IFS protocols do not always work with them and need to be reviewed and modified.
Practice portion will offer:
*Exercises for exploring Participants' therapeutic parts that respond to the client's neurodivergent system;
* Exercises that help separate the work of the nervous system and parts;
*Practice and development of skills in small groups.
Eligibility for participation:
1. Completion of IFS Level 1 (or similar) training
2. Professional work in human services field (confirmed by relevant education, licensure or registration depending on your country of residence requirements).
3. Willingness to work with your own parts;
4. Attendance of the seminar from the beginning to the end without delays or absences (creating a safe container is very important for this workshop).
Credits & Certificates.
Seminar will offer:
1) certificate of attendance to everyone who completes attendance requirements (at least 80% of sessions attended)
2) 12.5 IFS credits for IFS Institute certification or recertification (need to attend at least 80% of the sessions)
3) 12.5 CEUs to licensed mental health providers in the US (need to attend at least 90% of the session and fill out evaluation form) - extra charge applies
